Tapeworm-Taenia solium: Case Study

Taenia solium, also known as the pork tapeworm, is a parasitic flatworm that can infect humans. Its prevalence varies widely depending on geographic and socio-economic factors. In areas where pork is commonly consumed and where sanitation practices are inadequate, Taenia solium infections are more common.

Patient Data: 43 year old, female

Case History:  

Patient presented with a history of chronic diarrhea and bloating with a diagnosis of nonspecific chronic inflammation in the colon, mouth and vagina.  Based on recommendations by her physician, she removed animal protein, sugar, egg, gluten, and dairy for two years, resulting in transient symptom improvement. However, symptoms gradually returned.  

Patient has a history of frequent international travel.

Protocol:  

  • Biocidin® Liquid - 15 drops, 3 times per day
  • GI Detox+® - 2 capsules daily away from food
  • ***Added the last 4 weeks of the protocol***
  • Biotonic- 10 drops, 3 times per day at the same time as Biocidin liquid
  • Olivirex® - 2 capsules per day
  • Proflora- 1 capsule daily

Outcome:

Clinical outcomes:
Patient reported improvement in diarrhea, with more well formed stools, as well as a reduction in bloating. Over the course of extended treatment, her symptoms remained mostly stable with occasional flares. Imaging showed a reduction in inflammation, but incomplete resolution.
